Former North Star leader is AFED’s first COO

The Africa Federation Secretariat is pleased to announce the appointment of Alhaj Hasnain Mohamed Sherally to the position of Chief Operating Officer (COO) effective as of 1st November 2019.

This is a new position being part of the new structure aligned with the Africa Federation strategy for the term 2019-2022 to improve its performance management system and coordination in day-to-day activities.

Br Hasnain brings invaluable experience to the Secretariat and will be stationed at the AFED head office in Dar-es-Salaam.

Business management experience

Br Hasnain is married with a child and lives with his family in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania, where he was born and educated. He holds an Honors Degree in Business from the University of Greenwich and has had over eight years of experience in Business Development and Management.

Br Hasnain has been an active member of the community since his days as a student at the Dar-es-Salaam Hussayni Madrassah; he was elected Vice President of the Development Society (then Debating Society) for two years running, and upon graduating from the Madrassah he continued with the patronage team for two years.

Improving productivity

Br Hasnain was also been appointed convener for the Africa Federation’s Solidarity Day event for 2017, and was appointed as the lead for Africa region during the World Federation’s Project North Star from 2016 – 2018.

Br Hasnain’s aims to achieve coherence and efficiency in the day-to-day operations of the organization by introducing Standard Operating Procedures with Advanced Technology that will homogenize the Federation’s activities, bringing new milestones of productivity in the system.
