A pioneering course aimed at improving the mental health of Khoja youth has won high praise from participants.
Twelve participants underwent training during the inaugural Youth Mental Health First Aider (MHFA) course on the weekend of 6 – 7 July.
The course was evidence based and designed to increase participants’ confidence, knowledge and skills to step into situations where they notice signs of poor mental health, especially amongst young people facing academic pressure, social media stress and bullying.
“Eye-opening course”
Enthusiastic feedback included:
“An excellent course very informative and educational. Definitely eye-opening would highly recommend this course to everyone”
“Fantastic delivery from two articulate, knowledgeable and very open-minded instructors. Really promoted positive, open discussion in an environment that always felt safe and secure.”
The training was a Council of European Jamaats initiative and was delivered by Ammar Farishta and Mariam Hassam, both of whom are MHFA Instructor Members.
