The KSIMC of Birmingham, also known as Al-Abbas Islamic Centre, has received “The Community Organisation” award at the Community Inspiration Awards 2022.

About the Community Inspiration Awards

The annual Community Inspiration Awards is organised by the Community Foundation recognising outstanding contributions made by staff from public sector organisations, charities, businesses, and community members, whose efforts have made a positive difference in the community and have inspired and motivated others.

The award has 15 categories which are classified into – Community Category and Public Services Category. These categories are:

Community Inspiration Awards 2022

This year’s Community Inspiration Awards ceremony took place on Tuesday 29th March 2022, in Birmingham, where a panel of esteemed judges announced the finalists and winners. The awards were presented by various dignitaries, including leading businessmen and women, chief officers from public sector organisations and Members of Parliament.

KSIMC of Birmingham’s Award

KSIMC of Birmingham was awarded in the Public Services category for Community Organisation Award for their remarkable services during the Covid-19 Pandemic. The awards acknowledged Al-Abbas Islamic Centre’s initiative for being the first mosque in the UK to host the Covid-19 vaccination program and setting a positive example for providing community support throughout the pandemic.

The proactive efforts of Sheikh Nuru Mohammed, the Resident Aalim of KSIMC of Birmingham, in engaging with media, politicians and the people of Birmingham to increase the awareness and update on the vaccine and his efforts in helping disseminate liable public information to the masses were also recognised. 

On behalf of the KSIMC of Birmingham, Sheikh Nuru Mohammed received the award for the KSIMC of Birmingham at the awards ceremony that took place in Birmingham on Tuesday 29th March 2022.
