Who is Hussain’s “Global Blood Heroes” wins People’s Choice Award at the Charity Film Awards 2024

Global Blood Heroes – The documentary showcasing the monumental world record-breaking endeavour by The Who is Hussain Foundation has won the People’s Choice Award at the 2024 Charity Film Awards held in London, UK.

What is the Global Blood Heroes Documentary?

In 2022, The Who is Hussain Foundation, UK, launched a volunteer-run blood donation drive, working with NHS Blood and Transplant and the Imam Hussain Blood Donation Campaign. This initiative aimed to establish a new world record for the largest number of blood donations in a single day under the Global Blood Heroes campaign.

On 27th August 2022, blood donation centres in 27 countries across 6 continents united to collect blood from more than 37,000 individuals, setting a new world record for the highest number of blood donations in a single day. Official world records authenticated the total number of blood donations as 37,018, surpassing the previous record of 34,723 set in 2020.

Global Blood Heroes is a documentary that delves into the journey of this remarkable event which established a new world record, providing insights into the behind-the-scenes strategic planning and management. It premiered on YouTube on 27th August 2023, precisely one year after the historic achievement.

What is the Charity Film Awards?

The Charity Film Awards is a British film accolade held annually to celebrate cause-driven storytelling through film. Established in 2015, it recognises and honours impactful videos created by charities, shedding light on significant causes and inspiring action. Each year, campaign films are announced as winners through public voting and evaluation by a final panel of judges.

Winning Category

Global Blood Heroes documentary won the People’s Choice Award under the Longform £100,000 – £1 million category. This category recognises outstanding cause-based films with a budget ranging from £100,000 to £1 million and are typically more extensive, lasting more than five minutes, and aim to captivate and engage audiences while promoting charitable causes.
