A Healthcare and Real Estate Entrepreneur, Br Abbas Merali has been elected as the Councillor for the Moor Park and Eastbury Ward in Three Rivers District Council on 6th May 2022.
Who is Abbas Merali?
Br Abbas Merali is a former M&A investment banker turned healthcare and real estate Entrepreneur with a passion for community and sports development. He is leading RMD Care, a residential care home operator in the Home Counties, in the capacity of the CEO.
Br Abbas was born and brought up in Kenya and migrated to the UK with his family when he was 14. Since then, he has been residing with his family at the Moor Park and Eastbury.
He is an active community worker and has volunteered through charities, including supporting people living with dementia and the homeless. Being very passionate about sports, he also organises multi-generational sporting festivals to encourage local people to get fitter and healthier whilst promoting sports as a force for social good.
Contesting in the Three Rivers District Council Elections
Br Abbas has been actively involved as a Moor Park and Eastbury Conservative branch committee member. He contested in the Three Rivers District Council Elections as a Conservative Candidate for the Moor Park and Eastbury ward.
In his election manifesto, he mentioned that he was campaigning for 3 things in particular:
- Safer streets and secure homes
- Maintaining and enhancing our public spaces and
- Fair and proportionate approach to planning.
Abbas Merali as the Councillor of Moor Park and Eastbury
On 6th May 2022, Br Abbas posted an announcement on his Facebook page confirming his win with a majority of 834. He said, “I am honoured and delighted to announce that I have today been elected as the Councillor for the Moor Park and Eastbury Ward in Three Rivers District Council with 1120 votes and a majority of 834!! ..”
The President of The World Federation, Alhaj Safder Jaffer, and Former President, Dr Asgar Moledina, personally congratulated Br Abbas on being elected as the Councillor.
In his message to Br Abbas, Dr Moledina mentioned, “ … I am so delighted and happy to hear of your resounding victory in The Moor Park / Eastbury Ward… Let us work on encouraging more of our youths to enter the arena of leadership even starting at local schools committee level, then to local govt n then to national.
